My Vacation Trip @ Tha Kha Floating Market
5 February, 2011
By Aoy Mankhong
Where are you going to go on your vacation? As for me, I got through my three days vacation trip at Thaka Floating Market, Samut Songkhram Province. Except for Damnoen Saduak where is the most popular floating market in Thailand for tourists, I recommend you to go to Thaka Floating Market, if you want to avoid the turbulance in the city. Here, there is atmosphere with both sides of the water coconut trees and tropical fruit orchards. Originally, Tha Kha only open six days a month in accordance to the lunar calendar, now it is also open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The market starts running at about 8 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The earlier you go the better. As it is a traditional market, you will find that the main days are on the 2nd, 7th and 12th days of the waxing and waning moon.
Ban Rak Amphawa Homestay - Amphawa Home of Love
This market is a short distance away in Samut Songkhram Province. I was using a homestay at Amphawa Floating Market as my base and it only took me about 15 minutes to drive here. It is a bit in the middle of no-where if you don’t have your own transport. But, I am told you can catch a songtaew here from the market in Samut Songkhram City. It costs only 20 baht each, which is ridiculously cheap.
In the morning the homestay owner will wake you up shortly after 6 a.m. if you want to make merit by giving alms to the monks.
However, here I enjoyed the peace and tranquillity at Amphawa, when I first went to Damnoen Saduak most boats had people rowing, though these days they all seem to have noisy motors. At Tha Kha they will paddle you along the narrow canals in peace and quiet so that you can better appreciate your environment. Moreover, sites within the area that should not be missed include Bang Kung temples, Palm Sugar Village.
Thank you Amphawa, Samut Songkhram where is my memorial time. The vacation trip at Amphawa and Thaka Flaoting Market is precious time and unforgetable. I will come back it again, when I have a chance.
Let’s go to Chaingkhan!
During December 2010, my friend and I had a plan to go on a trip. We were going to travel on the Constitution Day which was the long holiday since we wanted to relax from much homework. We wanted to go to Loei because there was a beautiful view in winter, but we must choose Phu Kradueng or Chiangkhan. Finally, we agreed that Chiangkhan was the best choice because the numbers of tourist might be less than Phu Kradueng.
First day, start to travel
I was so excited because this was our first trip to go to the tourist attraction with each other. We started with Chaingkhan without any plan because we thought that there won’t be any problem. Oh my god! It was not true we suffered from troublesome transportation and local people. However, I was pleased I could pass this situation and arrived Chaingkhan safely.
This was the first time for me to see the antique city which was surrounded by many wooden buildings. I was amazing because I’ve never known it still remains in Thailand. At Chaingkhan, there were many tourist spots such as a pedestrian street, Kangkudkhoo, Phuthok, etc.
Pedestrian street
It was the highlight at here because There were everything in this street such as food, hotel, shops, etc.
I recommended whoever comes here, you must buy a coconut dessert glass. It’s so delicious!
Sea of mist of Phuthok
Phutok was another tourist spot in Chaingkarn where people went to see the sea of mist. The view up there was magnificent. And what a funny story; while we were traveling to Phuthok, my friend asked the driver about Nathan’s house. “Do you know where is Nathan’s house?” the driver said “It’s over there. It’s a yellow house.” Everyone paid attention Nathan’s house. In brief, no one paid attention the sea of mist.
The last supper & good bye Chaingkhan
The last supper was frozen drinks, for everyone who enjoyed with shopping until we didn’t have enough money to eat food. However, I had breakfast with rice congee mixed with meat before went back to Khonkaen. Good bye Chaingkhan. Thanks for a good memory. See you next time.

A Day In Chiang Mai
When people ask me about what the place I like the most I will respond them without thinking. The place that I really love is Chiang Mai, I don’t know why. One thing I can tell you is local people are friendly and easy-smile.
Let’s talk about the place I have visited, Royal Flora Ratchaphruek festival. In the festival, there were many attractive highlights and many tourists. For instance, inside the Gardens for the king zone, there were two features in this zone: one was International gardens, which were presented by 30 participating nations and covered 21,000 square meters; the other was Corporate gardens, which covered 27,475 square meters, and were presented by both Thai state enterprises, and domestic and international major corporations.
Ho Kham Royal Pavilion
Another zone was Ho Kham Royal Pavilion. This building featured Lanna architecture, the architectural style of northern Thailand; inside, there were King Bhumibol's arts and his dedication.
Many beautiful views were still locked in my mind. I was lucky to be there once in a life time……..
I love Chiang Mai………..

Hello Everybody!
My story when I was in Krabi.........I love every minute in Krabi.
Ko Phi Phi, Krabi, The paradise island ; )
Krabi is a little bit quieter than Phuket and offers also a lot of activities. I went to a small island, I saw a very beautiful sunsets. The flight to Phuket was great; the surrounding islands just look like paradise. I have spent 3 days there. The weather was good; it was high travelling season, so there was blue sky and sunshine every day. It's an amazing life! The water was crystal clear and the variety of fish was amazing. I bet that you have never seen it before.
A good memory was to feed the fish by banana, and they seemed to love it. Later, the Krabi travel agency was nice; I have enjoyed my journey to Koh Phi Phi a lot. The boat took me at Tonsai pier where I was collected and taken by long tail boat to Paradise Pearl Bungalows on Hat Yao (Long Beach). Paradise is word to describe Ko Phi Phi.
My bungalow
My bungalow was near the beach and of course, it faces the incredible view of the water and the beyond islands. The resort is nicely kept and has frangipani lined pathways, plenty of deck chairs along the sand, and a really great restaurant on the beach. For the first days I was very tried because I have spent many hours on plane and boat. Anyway, It’s not that bad because I have rested in the comfortably bungalow for most of the day.
View from my bungalow
I was able to see the lovely view and water from my window. I have spent only 2 nights to enjoy this beautiful place. White sand, blue sky and amazing turquoise water were framed by the surrounding steep green mountainous islands across the bay. It’s a simple formula but absolutely fascinated.
Other fabulous things in Phuket, I loved were the driving range, swimming, snorkeling, food, drinks, etc.
Shopping!!! It was a wonderful way to end my trip!
